Amy Jandrisevits worked as a pediatric oncology social worker when she noticed something heartbreaking: many of the dolls children used in play therapy didn’t look anything like them.
So in 2014, she started making dolls by hand from her dining-room table.
Through “A Doll Like Me,” Amy creates dolls with the same unique features as the children receiving them—including limb differences, prosthetics, feeding tubes, birthmarks and vitiligo.
Each doll is made to remind a child of something incredibly important:
